Dear People,
Hi, I am Elizabeth Jo Zosel. I like to play football, basketball and baseball. I like to make things with clay and draw. I am in the 3rd grade in the Discovery program. I love school. I have a 6 year old sister, a 10 month old sister and a brother who is 4.
I got diabetes when I was 2, now I am 8. Diabetes is where your pancreas stops working. Your pancreas makes insulin for your body. When you get diabetes, your body doesn¿t have any more insulin so you have take shots or have a pump. The pump is what I have. You have to get site changes when you have a pump. The pump has a long tube which is attached to the site change thing. A site change is where you have a 1 inch long needle and it goes into your body. Then you take it out and a tube thing is left inside your body for at least 2 days. Sometimes you can use cream which makes it not hurt when the needle goes into the body.
I can do most everything even though I have diabetes. But I don¿t like high blood sugars, site changes and the feeling of lows. I can¿t have candy or too many carbs when I am high. I don¿t like it when I am really low, it makes me feel weak and cold inside. But I do like to eat the sugar when I am low because it¿s nummy. I can¿t go home on the bus when I am too low (that stinks because I like riding the bus). I don¿t like site changes because they hurt if I don¿t use cream.
I am on a JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes team called CAKE WALK. I am the E. My friends Kyle, Britt, Carmella and Alyssa are a part of CAKE WALK. We walk 5 miles at a park in Tacoma.
I think you should donate money for a cure because I don¿t like lows, highs and site changes. I don¿t think you would either. Thank You.
