Jessica Myers is walking with Jessica's Crew on October 2, 2004 in Liverpool, NY.
Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $80 million.
I would like to start this off by thanking all of you who helped support me in the 2003 JDRF walk. Last year I collected over $800.00 and won first place in the school walk at Gillette Road Middle School. In all, my friends, family and I have raised just over $5,000.00 in the past 2 years that will go to finding a cure for diabetes. As you all know, I have had type 1 juvenile diabetes for just over 4 years now. I am 13 now and some things have gotten easier ... some things have not. I still check my blood several times a day, have to measure my food and calculate my insulin each time I eat just to stay alive, and my mom wakes me up at least once every night to make sure my levels are ok so that I wake up in the morning. Some day in the future I look forward to sleeping a good nights sleep and waking up knowing I won't have to worry about diabetes and all of the headaches that go along with it. And even better-with everyone's help, someday when I have children they will not have to know about any of the things I am dealing with now. Please mark your calendar and come walk with us on October 2, 2004 at Longbranch Park in Liverpool. You can register online to be a walker on my team which is called 'Jessica's Crew'.If you are unable to make it and would prefer to sponsor me, all donations are greatly appreciated as I have set a personal goal of 1000.00 this year. Check back often to see how close I am to my goal. If you would like to forward this to anyone, please do, and thanks for your help!!! Thank you Rusty,Karin and Uncle Jim!!!!
