Nadine Dooley is walking with Jumpin' Jack Flash on August 6, 2005 in East Lansing, MI.
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! We can't believe it is time for our 2nd JDRF Walk to Cure and we are thrilled that it is taking place at Michigan State University (GO GREEN!).
Our family team, Jumpin' Jack Flash, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, are walking to raise awareness for juvenile diabetes and to support our $86 million goal. Our team goal for Jumpin' Jack Flash is $10,000.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people¿a large and growing percentage of them children. In the past 17 months that our 5-year old son, Jack, has had this disease he has endured 1,275 inuslin injections and 3,060 finger pricks. He is on a tightly controlled diet...sometimes he can not eat when he is hungry or has to eat when he is not. No matter how well we take care of him and control his blood sugars, he can still develop complications like heart disease, kindney failure and nerve damage leading to amputation. Because of this disease, his life expectantcy is cut short by 15 years. There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within Jack's lifetime!
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can get one step closer to a cure for Jack!
Thanks for your support!
