Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $86 million.

Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people¿a large and growing percentage of them children.

There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!

Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!

A Personal Letter from JP!!!

Dear Family and Friends:

My name is JP and I am a 14 year old boy living with juvenile diabetes. I love to play sports and usually do well in school. I was first diagnosed with diabetes in 1994 when I was 3. By the time I was 4, I was telling newly diagnosed teenagers about diabetes. I still take any chance I get to tell people about Diabetes.

A cure for juvenile diabetes is very important to me. Having diabetes is practically torture to live with. I have to get at least 4 shots every day. I also have to prick my finger so much that I get calluses. I can only eat at certain times and even then only a certain amount. Sometimes I have to eat even when I¿m not hungry. If I do not get a shot I get hyper and start to feel bad. I cannot focus or remember things when my blood sugar is high or low. This is a hardship in school. Also, when my blood sugar is high in school, I have to miss class to get a shot.

On November 19th my family and I are going to Walk to Cure Diabetes. A cure for juvenile diabetes is very important to me. Without one, all diabetics, including me will have diabetes forever. The researchers believe they will find a cure soon, so won't you please support me, JDRF and the research by sending a donation to help cure diabetes.

Any amount, no matter how big or small would help and be appreciated.
