This is My Team Melissa's Munchkinland at the 2006 Kingston Walk To Cure Diabetes.
Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $90 million.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people - a large and growing percentage of them children and adults.
There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!
My brother has had Type1 diabetes since the age of 23 months old. Then, if that was not enough, I TOO became a type1 later on in life when I WAS 25 YEARS OLD. Now we have twice the reason to raise money for research so that we can achieve our dream a Cure for this disease.
My brother is hooked up to an insulin pump 24 hours a day 7 days a week; with no breaks from hook ups. I need countless injections and fingersticks until i can afford a pump.
SO - PLEASE HELP US IN OUR FUNDRAISING GOALS. Faith, hope and pixie-dust will help - but your donations will help even more to make our dream become a reality in our lifetime.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS. FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS !!!! MELISSA'S MUNCHKINLAND
