Kierstin Carter is walking with The Carter's on October 4, 2008 in Dayton, OH.
Hello! This year I will be taking part in the JDRF walk to cure diabetes, on October 3, 2009. I hope you can join me. This is very exciting for me and my family. This walk and fund raising give's us hope that someday there will be a cure for me and all the other children who has to live with this disease.
I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes on September 29, 2006. I have to check my blood sugar 4-6 times a day also I am on an insulin pump, which I have to change my site every other day. I have to numb my site for an hour before I insert my site. I have to watch what I eat, eat at certain times, and eat certain amount of carbs.
Someday's are very scary for me when I have a high blood sugar, or a low blood sugar. When I get sick this is extremely scary and I have to check my blood sugar more often. This disease is hard for me to live with but, I can still do everything that everyone else does.
I love to play softball, swim, ride bikes with my dad, jump on my trampoline, go for walks with my mom & sister, camping and playing with my best friend Kira. This fall will be my first year at playing soccer and I am very excited.
You can show me support by donating, walking, or both. I really have the hope that through all the research that someday there will be a cure. Please remember insulin is not a cure it's just my life line..
Lots & Lots of Love, Kierstin
