Anna Caro is walking with Anna's Hope on March 7, 2009 in Orlando, FL.
Hi guys! Thanks for checking out my fundraising page! This is my 4th walk with JDRF and I'm so excited to be getting to do it again! As Mom likes to say "I woke up and we still have diabetes," which is why I'm at it again this year! And I'm not alone-there are half a million other walkers all over the country, trying to reach our collective goal of $105 million dollars. This next bit of text is from the trialnet website and explains just what type 1 is very well-"Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells (the beta cells) of the pancreas. Current treatment for type 1 diabetes consists of managing blood glucose levels through diet, exercise, and injections of insulin. Insulin injections attempt to replace the natural insulin produced by the beta cells in the pancreas. This approach does not affect the underlying cause of the disease, which is the autoimmune attack on the beta cells."
There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
Thanks for stopping by! XOXOXO, ~Anna
