Hi there! I will once again be participating in JDRF's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $105 million.

If you remember from last year. The main reason I walk is to support our nephew Corey. He was diagnosed right before his second birthday. Corey is now an active 4.5 year old boy who can already test himself. I am amazed at the technology that has developed to help make the lives of diabetic individuals easier. Corey wears a pod on his body everyday. This eliminates him being poked with insulin needles, except for when a new pod needs to be attached every 3 days or so. After Corey is tested, his reading shows up on a handheld device, much like an iPhone. If he needs insulin, the device just needs to be close enough to him, and you electronically send the insulin to Corey. No needles, except for testing really!

Corey amazes me everytime I see him with how easy going he is about being tested repeatedly through out the day. He is seriously one awesome kid! Some of his hobbies include fishing, trains, playing with his cousins, and playing the guitar!

Other good news is that for the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!

Thank you for any help you can contribute to this walk. Remember, if 20 people donated just $5, that would make an impact. No donation is too small, especially in these tough economic times.

The girls will be walking too in support of their cousin.

Thank you,
Paula, Alex and girls!
