It is 12:55 am and I am lying in bed crying. My alarm went off at 12:30 and I hit some buttons and fell back asleep, 5 minutes later my alarm went off again and as I tried to hit it off, I woke up and realized that I need to get up and test my girls blood sugars. I went into the kitchen grabbed the glucometer and headed upstairs. I tested Maddie first she was 294. She was high again. Thinking of how much insulin I needed to give her I went into Ashleys room and tested her, she was 33! Cant be! I tested her again 32! Her face was white and her body was cool and clammy. I ran to get her 3 juice boxes which she slurped down the first 2 without even waking up. She opened her eyes for the 3rd box. I lay down beside her and waited a very long 10 minutes and tested her again, 67, yes she is coming up! What if I didnt wake up? Would I find her in a coma or worse in the morning? What damage did the low blood sugar do to her brain? How is she going to feel now that her body has been in stress mode fighting to survive?

As parents, we try from the moment our children are born to protect them from any harm. This is why Pat and I have the passion to find a cure for diabetes for our girls and millions of other people suffering with this disease. We hope you will continue to join us on our journey to find a cure for diabetes.

This years JDRF Walk To Cure Diabetes is on Saturday, April 17th at Carowinds. This is our 12th walk and we hope to make it our most successful one by raising over $100,000!

We are so thankful for all of the support we have gotten from our friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your donation.
love, Shauna and Pat
